Summer Programs

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT: Registration is available online beginning February 1, 2014.  Registration is not complete until payment is received.  For early registration discount, checks and payments must be made before March 15th. Partial payment is accepted upon agreement. Please contact ssnow@nempacboston.org to arrange this. Registration deadline for summer programs is Friday, June 13th, 2014 to guarantee a spot.

Instructors: All Workshop Instructors are CORI certified. Student / Instructor ratio is 4 or 5:1 depending on enrollment. Lead teachers are CPR certified. Our lead instructors are very experienced, local conservatory graduates and arts educators in the Boston area.

Location of Workshops:  9 Hull Street in the North End. Our performance location may vary per week. We will notify you of this.

Policies: Full payment for early registration must be received by March 15th to receive the 10% discount. Sibling discount 10% is off original price, not discounted early registration. Withdrawal before June 13th will cost a $30 processing fee and a full refund will be issued. Withdrawal after June 13th will not be issued a refund.

Lunches: Students must bring lunches each day for full day programs. Healthy am and pm snacks will provided. Special allergies should be communicated to staff and on registration.

Children’s Music Theater Workshop

9 am – 4 pm (Friday: 9 am – 12:30 pm)

Ages 5 – 13

Ages 14 – 16 (Internship opportunities available for student assistant directors & designers)

Location: 9 Hull Street

Week One: July 7th – July 11th

Week Two: July 14 –  July 18th 

The goal of this summer program is to provide children and teens with training and exposure to all performing arts. Each Music Theater Troupe member will receive training in music, dance, theater  yoga, health & fitness, and leadership training. Outdoor, public performances will conclude each week on Fridays. We will perform one musical a week, these will be announced mid-March.

Program is open to children and teens ages 5 – 16. Students are separated into age groups: Beginners: Ages 5-6 Intermediates: Ages 7-9 Advanced: Ages 10-13

Weeky Schedule:

Monday- Thursday 9am – 4pm
Friday: 9am -Noon
Early drop-off 8:30am ($5 per day) and late pick-up 5pm ($10 per day) available. (Monday- Thursday only)

Registration & Tuition:
Cost per week : $245 per Troupe Member

Performance Schedule Information:

Please note our end of the week performances are on each Friday at 12:30pm at the Boston Harbor Community Church. We will also have an optional performance for children as part of our Outdoor Summer Concert Series on the Prado.

Sample Weekday Schedule:

ROCK BAND Camp! 

9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Ages – 7 – 15

Location: 9 Hull Street

Kids Jam and find their favorite instrument to be a part of a band. Drums, Guitar, Vocals, Keyboard. Students will learn the fundamentals on all of these instruments and then pick their favorite. By mid-week they will form their own songs, jam together, and get ready to record their song by the end of the week!

Cost: $215

Ballet Workshop!

Ages 3 – 6 

9:30 am-12:00 pm 

Location: 9 Hull Street

Beginning ballerinas ages 3- 6 learn introductory ballet poses, including the five positions. Kids explore their creativity through dance! This year we are also introducing STOMP! which includes body percussion and movement.  Please bring a snack for snack time!

Cost: $190.00 

(children staying for Find Your Favorite Instruments will be supervised between 12 – 12:30pm for lunch)

Find Your Favorite Instrument!

Ages 4 – 7

Welcome back 2014! This workshop was SO popular last year that we’re bringing it back once again! This is a workshop designed for beginning musicians to learn which instrument they love the most! Each day will feature a workshop with a different instrument family, including: Keyboard, Strings (violin, cello and viola), Guitar (acoustic, electric, banjo), percussion (including African drumming, drum kit, and street drumming), and Brass & Wood winds (saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, flute). By the end of the week, your child will know what is his/her favorite instrument!
