Eliot Band Program

Welcome to the NEW Eliot Band Program!

The Eliot Band Program will introduce new instruments to the students of the Eliot Upper School in grades 4-6. The students involved will develop fundamental techniques on their chosen instruments through group lessons, and valuable team building skills through ensemble playing. On Mondays, students will breakout into instrument groups for a 60-minute group lesson led by NEMPAC teaching artists to develop skills on their instruments. On Tuesdays, students will meet with Lead Instructor Maestro Marchese to combine their individual work into ensemble playing. Students will perform in at least two performances throughout the year, and will collaborate with the advanced group the Eliot Music Ensemble. Students may select from clarinet, flute, percussion, or trumpet.

Ages: Grades 4 – 6
Lead Instructor:
Stefano Marchese with NEMPAC teaching artists
Class Fee per: $195 / 12 weeks
Instruments Offered: Clarinet, Flute, Percussion, Trumpet

Schedule:

Mondays 3:15-4:15PM – Group Lessons

  • Each week the students will separate by instrument to work on fundamental techniques with a NEMPAC specialist. The group lessons will help each student grow as a musician in their instruments so they can more easily transition to the ensemble playing experience.

Tuesdays 3:15-4:15PM – Ensemble Rehearsal (Group Lessons until mid-October)**

  • The ensemble rehearsals will be lead by Stefano Marchese once a week to develop listening and group playing skills. The students will use the techniques learned in the group lessons in all the music that is assigned in the ensemble.

**From September through December students will have group lessons on both Mondays and Tuesdays so that they have time to develop the necessary skills on their instruments to perform in a group. Starting in January, the ensemble rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays in place of the second group lesson.**
