CHILDREN'S COURSES:

  • Family Music Makers: Little Music Makers
    Toddlers (ages newborn – approx 4) and their caretakers sing, dance and explore a variety of rhythm instruments.
    Laura DiGiacomo will be teaching the Wednesday sessions and the instructor for the Saturday sessions is TBA.

    Class Times:
    Wednesdays: 9:30 – 10:15 am
    Wednesdays: 10:30 – 11:15 am
    Wednesdays: 11:30 – 12:15 pm
    Saturdays: 9:30 – 10:15 am
    Saturdays: 10:30 – 11:15 am

    Wednesday Location: Lincoln Wharf function room.
    Saturday Location: N.End Health Center conference room

    Fee: $175/ten meetings, children under 6 months may attend with a sibling at no additional charge.
    Each time slot is contingent upon a class minimum of 6 students.


  • Family Music Makers: Kidstompers
    Children ages 3-5 participate in activities designed to enhance music skills, self-confidence and team building.

    Wednesdays: 4:00 – 4:45 pm

    Location: Lincoln Wharf function room

    Fee: $175/ten meetings, children under 6 months may attend with a sibling at no additional charge.
    Course is contingent upon a class minimum of 6 students


  • Young Children's Yoga
    This class is great for children ages 2 – 5. Yoga instructor Karen Shea is a North End mom, and co-owner of Verve Yoga. She has successfully worked with all ages right here in the North End. We are so pleased to have her!

    Tuesdays 11:00 am

    Fee: $150/10 classes, contingent upon a minimum of 4 students.

  • Children's Yoga
    This offering is geared toward children 6 – 9 years old, younger siblings are welcome to enroll as well. Caretakers will drop off their child/children. The instructor will be Karen Shea.

    Mondays 4:00 pm

    Location: Clough House

    Fee: $150/10 classes, contingent upon a minimum of 4 students.

  • Children's Italian
    Using an immersion technique children learn Italian by listening and repeating words and phrases as they engage in craft projects and sing along activities.

    Tuesdays: 4:00 pm (ages 6-9)
    Thursdays: 10:30 am (ages 2-5)
    Saturdays: 10:30 am (ages 2-5)

    Fee: $175/10 classes

  • Children's Spanish
    Beatriz Contreras returns to teach this fun interactive children's course. This course is designed to introduce children to Spanish language through arts & crafts, games and stories.

    Mondays: 10:30 am

    Location: NEMPAC Building

    Fee: $175/ten classes

  • Kids Rock Band
    A 10-week music class for well behaved kids. Musicians of all levels are encouraged to join.

    Instructor: Jeremy Sarzana

    Location: TBD based on class size

    Ages 5-8: Saturday 2:00 p.m.

    Ages 8-13: Saturday 3:00 p.m.

    Class Fee: $100/10 classes

  • Adult Rock Band
    A 10-week music class, musicians of all levels are encouraged to join.

    Wednesdays 6:45 pm

    Location: Nazzaro Center

  • Music Improvisation for All Instruments
    A 10-week music class for mature teens & aduilts. Improvisers with all levels of musical skill are encouraged to join. Students minimally need to be able to find notes on their instruments. This course will help students build confidence and learn to play instruments with others

    Mondays 8:00 p.m.

    Class Fee: $175/10 classes

  • ADULT ITALIAN COURSES
    All sections use Prego: An Invitation to Italian, 6th Edition. This book is not included in the course fee.

    Location: NEMPAC building

    Fee: $175/10 classes

    • Italian I: Covers basic grammar amd pronunciation; simple reading, conversation and writing activities using the present tense.

      Thursdays 7:00 – 8:30 pm

    • Italian II: This intermediate level course continues with grammar, emphasizing the use of the past, future, conditional perfect, and subjunctive tenses. More complex reading, writing and conversational activities assigned.

      Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:30 pm

    • Italian 1.5: For students who have begun studying Italian but who do not feel ready for Italian II. Covers basic grammar and pronunciation, reading, conversation and activities using the present, the past and future tenses.

      Tuesdays 7:00 – 8:30 pm

  • Private Italian Tutoring
    For Students who prefer private Italian lessons. Six or more lessons are suggested; group rates are available. Minimum 1 hr/week.

    Fee: $45/hour

PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION (PMI)


Join NEMPAC’s year-round private music instruction program. Open to children* and adults. Need-based 50% scholarships are available. Call 617-227-2270 for rate information, to arrange a trial lesson or to request a scholarship application.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Fall 2010 Courses:

To reserve space in a course and assure receipt of course materials, we must have your completed registration form and full payment at or before the first class meeting. Course payments may be made by check, cash or credit (Visa, Mastercard)

Course Policies:
Drop before the first class meeting – full refund (less $20 administration fee). Drop between first and second class meeting – 80% refund. Drop during or after second class meeting – no refund.

We do not pro-rate course fees for students (a) joining a class after the session begins, (b) leaving a class before the session ends, or (c) taking planned absences.

We currently do not offer sibling discounts. Due to space limitations and insurance considerations, only children enrolled in a class will be permitted to attend. Caretakers are expected to attend infant and toddler classes. 

NEMPAC reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollments and to refuse or suspend enrollment. 

For weather-related cancellations, NEMPAC follows the Boston Public Schools. In the event of cancellation due to weather or other circumstances, NEMPAC makes every effort to schedule make-up classes. Refunds will be issued at NEMPAC’s discretion.
